Physiotherapy in Care Homes
Many residents benefit from regular physiotherapy in care homes to maintain mobility, prevent deconditioning and improve confidence.
We work with residents who:
- Have experienced falls
- Are recovering after hospital admission
- Have reduced mobility
- Live with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis
- Have arthritis or other musculoskeletal conditions
- Require rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery
- Need support to remain as independent as possible
Our aim is always to maximise physical ability, improve quality of life and help people remain active within their own environment.
Continuity between appointments
Supporting Care Home Staff
Effective rehabilitation doesn’t stop when the physiotherapy session ends.
We work closely with care home staff and support workers to ensure rehabilitation strategies are carried through into everyday care.
By supporting staff with practical advice and education, we help create a consistent approach that promotes safety, confidence and long-term progress.
- Safe transfers
- Appropriate walking practice
- Correct use of mobility equipment
- Positioning and postural management
- Encouraging independence with daily activities
- Exercise programmes between physiotherapy sessions
Specialist units & residential settings
ABI Physiotherapy & Neurological Rehabilitation
We have experience providing ABI physiotherapy and neurological rehabilitation for younger adults living in specialist residential settings.
Following an acquired brain injury or neurological condition, rehabilitation often extends beyond improving physical function. Our physiotherapists work towards goals that help individuals regain confidence, increase independence and participate more fully in everyday life.
Treatment may include:
- Balance and coordination training
- Walking rehabilitation
- Strength and endurance programmes
- Functional task practice
- Community mobility training
- Rehabilitation to improve confidence and participation
Every rehabilitation programme is tailored to the individual’s goals and reviewed regularly to maximise progress.
ABI means acquired brain injury. Functional task practice means working on everyday movements and activities that matter to the person.
Skills for everyday life
Community Rehabilitation
Where appropriate, rehabilitation should not be limited to the care setting.
For younger adults living in specialist care homes or ABI units, we can provide community-based physiotherapy rehabilitation, supporting people to safely re-engage with activities outside their residence.
Community rehabilitation helps individuals transfer the skills developed during therapy into real-life situations, supporting greater independence and improved quality of life.
- Visiting local gyms
- Community walking practice
- Using leisure and fitness facilities
- Improving confidence in public environments
- Developing independence within the community
- Working towards vocational or recreational goals where appropriate

We are fortunate enough at the Sutton Coldfield Stroke Club to have Paula attend all our meetings to deliver neurotherapy to our members. We are delighted with what she does every time and she has assisted many of our members to make big improvements in their physical abilities and balance etc. She is always so positive and cheerful and encouraging and we all love her!Posted on Google![]()

I had a very smooth and professional experience with Neuro-Therapy from start to finish. From my initial conversation with Helen, where I explained my situation and the need for a physiotherapist, everything was handled with care, understanding, and efficiency. The physiotherapist attended within the agreed timeframe and was highly professional, respectful, and clear in outlining both the recovery goals and expected timeline. This gave me real confidence in the process and the support provided. I would wholeheartedly recommend Neuro-Therapy for their call-out physiotherapy service. The team is professional, friendly, and genuinely focused on patient care. Thank you to the entire team. I will definitely be booking again after my operation. Kind regards, Asim FPosted on Google![]()

We had a lovely physio called Mishah who worked with my mom after she had a stroke. A lovely girl with a very caring nature. My mom used to look forward to Mishah coming not only for the physio but for a natter. Mishah worked hard with my mom & got her walking from a frame to a walking stick & using the stairs. I would highly recommend Mishah for to anyone needing physio at home.Posted on Google![]()

My sister arranged for Jane to visit my mom after a very long stay in hospital. She was friendly, calm and professional and my mom felt very safe working with her. She provided a range of exercises that mom could do to build her muscles up again and talked her through very thoroughly. She also provided a copy of these exercises via email which we were able to print off and that was very useful. We would not hesitate to recommend Jane to anyone needing physiotherapy. Mom found her a pleasure to work with.Posted on Google![]()

My dad has been having physiotherapy from NT Rehab since his stroke earlier this year. We are all very pleased with the therapy he has received from Claire and Jane and with the progress he is making. They have been very helpful, easy to contact, happy to answer questions and very supportive in what has been a challenging time for us. He enjoys his physio sessions and is making good progress. We would highly recommend NTRehab.Posted on Google![]()

Your questions answered
Care Home Physiotherapy FAQs
Information for families, care home staff and healthcare professionals considering individual physiotherapy visits.
Can you visit one person in a care home or nursing home?
Yes. We provide individual, one-to-one physiotherapy visits for people living in care homes, nursing homes, residential homes and specialist units. Each person is assessed individually and treatment is tailored to their needs and goals.
Do you offer physiotherapy packages for several residents?
Our service is individual visits for one person, rather than a physiotherapy package or a block of time for several residents. Follow-up appointments can form part of that person’s rehabilitation programme.
What is domiciliary physiotherapy?
Domiciliary physiotherapy means a physiotherapist visits the person where they live. In a care home or nursing home, this allows rehabilitation to focus on everyday movement, mobility and independence in their own environment.
Do you provide ABI physiotherapy in specialist units?
Yes. We have experience providing acquired brain injury (ABI) physiotherapy and neurological rehabilitation for younger adults living in specialist residential settings. Treatment is built around the individual’s abilities, needs and goals.
Can you work with care staff and family members?
Yes. We work closely with care home staff, support workers, families and other healthcare professionals. We can advise on transfers, mobility equipment, positioning and exercise programmes between physiotherapy sessions.
Can rehabilitation take place outside the care home?
Where appropriate, community rehabilitation can include walking practice, local gyms, leisure facilities and activities that support confidence and independence outside the residence.
Do I need a GP referral, and how do I arrange a visit?
No GP referral is required. A family member, carer, care home or healthcare professional can contact NT Rehab to discuss the person’s needs, location, appointment fees and therapist availability.
Do you provide care home physiotherapy near me?
We visit care homes, nursing homes and specialist units across the Midlands, including Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Wolverhampton, Solihull and Nuneaton. View all areas covered or contact us with the resident’s postcode to check availability.
